The issue of the cancellation of the agreement by Greece was left clearly open by Defense minister Panos Kammenos. The defense minister in a televised interview said Zoran Zaev broke the deal.

The Prime Minister of FYROM, Zoran Zaev thanked his Greek counterpart, Alexis Tsipras for the two countries reaching an understanding on the name dispute, during his speech before the European Parliament on Thursday. Mr Zaev said his country would be recognised as North Macedonia from now on with their identity and language also being recognised.

Only hours after revelations by WikiLeaks about the strategy FYROM had been pursuing since 2008 regarding the name dispute, the identity and language, which effectively destroyed the Greek government’s narrative of difficult talks with Skopje, the Prime Minister of FYROM Zoran Zaev sent a new message regarding the matter, saying that the language and identity of his people will always be “Macedonian.”
