Peter Latos Foundation celebrates fifth year of service

With the promise to continue the battle against prostate cancer with even greater momentum, the Peter Latos Foundation annual event was held at the Garden City Hotel, in Garden City.
The "Peter Latos" Foundation was founded in October 2013 and this year it rounds off five years of operation. This is a tribute to the memory of the well-known Greek-American lawyer and vice-president of New Greek TV, Panayiotis Latos, who left life in June 2013, after battling cancer. He was diagnosed with prostatecancer in 2009, in a rare case, for his age, as he was only 44 years old. After that, his own desire was to draw the attention offmen of all ages and to focus on prevention, since with a simple blood test measuring PSA levels, one can not only identify the disease at an early stage, but it is likely curable.
According to Board member, Andreas Latos, the Foundation, in its five years of operation, has raised more than $ 300,000 in research and PSA tests for men who do not have insurance coverage.
The guest of honor at the event was the chairman of the Urological Clinic of the University of Winthrop, New York, Aaron Katz, who also handed out a $ 10,000 check to boost the fight against prostate cancer. The award was presented by the new chairman of PLPCF, and son of the late Panayiotis Latos, Dionysis.
The event was attended by, among others, the Consul General of Greece in New York, Konstantinos Koutras, the Attorney General of Naussau county, Mandlin Singas, Archimandrite Nektarios Papazafiropoulos, the kierarh of the Church of the Archhangel Michael Port Washington, Ioannis Lardas, businessman Savas Konstantinidis, lawyer Nick Beis and New Greek TV president Yanna Darilis.
