Diokleia Nektarios' update on the situation in Syria

Bishop Nektarios of Dioclea, Protosyngelos of the Holy Archdiocese of America, was briefed on the current developments in Syria by the Syrian-Jacobite Patriarch Ignatius-Ephraim II.
On Thursday, January 2, 2025, His Eminence represented His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America at a luncheon held in honor of the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East of the Syriac Orthodox Church. The event was hosted by His Eminence Archbishop Dionysios, Patriarchal Vicar of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch for the Eastern United States.
During this gathering, which was also attended by representatives of other faiths, the discussion focused on the current situation in Syria and the precarious future of Christians in the Middle East. His Eminence Ignatius - Ephraim II presented a detailed description of the ongoing challenges in Syria following the change of regime, emphasizing the need for peace as well as equal citizenship and rights for Christians during this critical period of transition and reconstruction of the country.
His Eminence Bishop Nektarios was accompanied by Protopresbyter Nikolaos Kazarian, Director of the Department for Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations.
