The match smelled of gunpowder from the very beginning ... The game between APOEL with Vardar in the qualification round of the Champions League was bound to be explosive due to national implications that exist between this pair.
So after fans of the local team passed by the hotel, where 150 APOEL fans were staying and made episodes, the intensity was transferred to the stands on the pitch.
In particular, fans of APOEL raised Greek and Serbian flags, with stadium officials challenging this move.
They thus ordered the security people to intervene and it resulted in tension and incidents in the stands for a few minutes to stabilize the situation.
