On Saturday in Sofia, the Cypriot national rugby team defeated Bulgaria 46-15 and won Division 2C of the European Nations Cup!

The team currently holds a world-record winning of 22 international games. Coach Paul Shanks stated of his Moufflons team prior to the win, "We mustn't let scores go to our heads and we can't be complacent".

Team Manager Rick Wadmore commented on the achievement as an "...excellent result...We played to our strengths and never wilted...The number of tries speaks for our fitness even though it has been a long season. Just one more match to go now, then we can take it easy for a couple of weeks".

Proud coach Shanks commented after his team's success, "I wasn't really worried. I know the strength of the team but I won't have them getting complacent. We now have to face Hungary, the strongest of our opposition, and we will take them seriously".

The season's last game will take place on May 17th in Paphos, where Cyprus will face second-ranked Hungary. However, the game's official governing International Rugby Board claimed of the island's team, "...determined that Cyprus does not currently meet all of the necessary membership criteria".

The Cypriot national team has not yet been added to international listings, such as the Guinness Book of World Records. Additionally, the Cypriots were not allowed to qualify for 2015's Rugby World Cup, and their rightfully won place was granted to second-place Slovenia.
