The Greek Tourism Ministry recently announced the launch of a new registry designed to provide information on all of the certified thermal natural springs in Greece.
The new “Registry of Certified Thermal Natural Springs” is accessible via the ministry’s website and includes an interactive map of Greece that indicates a total of 70 certified thermal springs. Information on the special features of each thermal spring is also provided.
By clicking on a location, internet users can get information on the municipality that the thermal spring belongs to, the water temperature and treatment options.
Furthermore, they can learn more about the certificate of each thermal spring by downloading (in pdf format) the relevant issue of the Greek Government Gazette.
The promotion of Greece’s thematic forms of tourism – including spa tourism – is a priority for Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis.
“Greece is the country where medical tourism was born and the homeland of Hippocrates. Our primary goal is to develop Greece as the ideal health tourism destination for travelers worldwide,” Theoharis said.
According to the minister, committees and working groups have been set up to develop and promote an efficient legislative framework for the promotion of spa tourism in Greece.
