Concerts: The big international live shows of the summer
Tom Jones, The Stranglers, Alice Cooper, and other major names complete the summer concert “map”

Just one month separates us from the grand opening of this summer's concert season, which includes several major performances by popular international artists and bands. From pop stars making their debut appearance in Greece to legendary rock icons who still know how to put on a show despite their age, and from timeless voices of the global music scene to up-and-coming bands that have won over international audiences — many will make their way to Greece, primarily Athens, to dazzle local fans with the irresistible nectar of music and the electrifying live atmosphere. So if you are planning to be in Athens these are the most notable concerts this summer

From the wide array of concerts happening between June and September, protothema.gr has selected and recommends ten must-see performances by international artists:

Green Day – July 6, OAKA

A long-awaited wish will finally come true with Green Day's debut performance in Athens. The legendary American band, known for its powerful punk rock sound, has sold over 85 million records and won five Grammy Awards. Their concert will be a signature event celebrating the 20th anniversary of Eject Festival.

Kylie Minogue – July 18, Plateia Nerou

The tiny pop powerhouse Kylie Minogue will hit the stage at Release Athens Festival. Known for hits like "I Should Be So Lucky", "The Loco-Motion", and "Can't Get You Out of My Head", the Australian singer remains a pop icon, with over 80 million albums sold and a career spanning from the 1980s to today.

Diana Ross – July 16, Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro)

With songs like "Endless Love", "Upside Down", and "When You Tell Me That You Love Me", the legendary Diana Ross has sold over 100 million records worldwide. At 80, she continues to mesmerize audiences, and this summer, Athens gets its turn to welcome her. The show will open with Greece's own Elena Paparizou.

Tom Jones – June 21, Lycabettus Theater

"Better late than never" applies perfectly here, as Tom Jones will perform in Athens for the first time. With classics like "Sex Bomb", "What's New Pussycat?", and "Delilah", the 85-year-old music legend still impresses with his vocal strength and charismatic presence.

Alice Cooper – July 11, Terra Vibe Park, Malakasa

The godfather of shock rock, Alice Cooper, returns to Athens three years after his last visit. Headlining the Rockwave Festival, he'll deliver hard rock anthems like "Poison", "Welcome to My Nightmare", and "Hey Stoopid", in a performance that's bound to be unforgettable.

The Stranglers – June 23, Odeon of Herodes Atticus (Herodion)

With a 50-year career and a unique, recognizable sound, The Stranglers are one of the longest-running bands in modern music. Their appearance at the iconic Herodion promises a night of classic punk rock energy.

Athens Riviera Falirikon: Up to 9 million euros for a sea view apartment

With prices of up to 9 million euros for a house with a beautiful view of the sea, sales have begun for the new ambitious mega residential project. This is what is already being built in Paleo Faliro for the creation of the “Athens Riviera Falirikon” in one of the few -as the situation has developed- properties in the area.

Maria Menounos Ambassador of the Hellenic Olympic Committee for the Los Angeles Olympics

The Hellenic Olympic Committee announced that Maria Menounos has accepted the offer to be its Ambassador for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The popular presenter and actress will also be the Master of Ceremonies at the Touching and Handing Over of the Olympic Flame Ceremonies for 2028.

Menounos was at the HOC offices for the official announcements, while she had a conversation earlier with the President of the Committee, Isidoros Kouvelos.

“I want to thank Maria for being with us and to say that I am very happy and proud that she accepted my proposal. Maria is truly such a bright person and I want to focus on how good a person she is. She is a Greek from the diaspora who truly glorifies and loves her homeland, she wants to be close to it and this gives us more joy and optimism. She will be with us at the HOC. She accepted to be an ambassador for the Greek Olympic Team on the way to Los Angeles,” said Isidoros Kouvelos.

“She will support us in many actions that the HOC will undertake and, of course, I want to mention something very important first. Maria will be Master of Ceremonies at the Flame Touching and Handover Ceremonies in Ancient Olympia and at the Panathenaic Stadium. It is something very important, and Maria, I want to thank you for that. We want the Greek diaspora to be close to the Greek delegation at the Games, to come and support the team, and Maria is the right person for that. Also, for the financial support that the Greek Olympic Committee is seeking for the best presence of the Greek team,” he added.

Menounos: “A great honor, I am proud to be Greek”

Maria Menounos, visibly moved, stated:

“And I, in turn, want to thank you for the proposal; it is a great honor for me. I am proud to be Greek and have the opportunity to be part of this effort. I want to help the athletes as much as I can and bring all the Greeks of America together. Wherever we are, let us be united to help Greece and the team do well. When the day of the lighting of the torch arrives in Ancient Olympia, I know it will be something very important and I will cry.”

Isidoros Kouvelos gave a symbolic gift to Maria Menounos, the statue of the Goddess Nike.
