U.S. Consul Plans Thessaloniki Visit

U.S. Consul Will Visit Thessaloniki on October 23 and 24, 2014

Athens -- The U.S. Embassy announced today that a U.S. Consul will perform a consular outreach trip to Thessaloniki, at the U.S. Consulate in Thessaloniki, on Thursday, October 23, and Friday, October 24, 2014. During the visit, the Consul will accept passport applications, applications to register the birth of children born abroad to U.S. citizen parent(s) and provide limited notarial services. In addition, a representative from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will accept applications for immigration purposes for immediate relatives of American citizens wishing to immigrate to the United States and a representative from the Social Security Administration (SSA) will answer questions regarding social security issues on Thursday, October 23, from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and on Friday October 24, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Anyone wishing to meet with a representative from either DHS or SSA can do so on a walk-in basis.

American citizens residing in the area may apply for the renewal of their passport during this visit. Citizens who have lost their passports and do not need to travel immediately can apply for a replacement passport. Anyone with immediate travel plans should make an appointment athttps://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/default.asp?postcode=ATH&appcode=1 to appear in person at the U.S. Embassy in Athens. American citizen parents of children born in Greece may also apply for the Consular Report of Birth Abroad for their children. Passport application forms and information on passport renewal and issuance of Consular Report of Birth Abroad may be obtained at http://athens.usembassy.gov Applicants must fully complete all mandatory questions on the entire passport application in English. No mandatory questions can be left bank. Completing the application on-line will speed up the process and minimize waiting time.

Please note that fees for passport/citizenship, notarial fees may be paid only by a bank check in euros. The check made payable to the American Embassy, may be obtained from one of the following banks: National Bank of Greece; Alpha Bank; Eurobank; Bank of Piraeus; Attica Bank; CitiBank; HSBC; Geniki Bank. The Embassy is not authorized to accept personal checks. If you submit more than one application, one bank check may include the total amount.
