The Embassy of Greece in Washington, D.C. along with the Shakespeare Theatre Company Bard Association, are hosting "The Trial of Lysistrata" on Monday, November 24, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at the Lansburgh Theatre.

As the Embassy describes of the plot, "Often called the first feminist, Lysistrata rallied the women of the enemy against her own city, and organized her fellow women against their own men, all in order to stop a war that she thought unjust. Is she a traitor or heroine? Under the auspices of the Embassy of Greece, you are invited to attend a special session of the Supreme Court of Athens to hear the case of the People v. Lysistrata."

It adds, "Justice Samuel Alito will preside and be accompanied by Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Counsel for Lysistrata, the Defendant, will be Lori Alvino McGill of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP and Christina Guerola Sarchio of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. Counsel for Athens will be Stewart Baker and Pantelis Michalopoulos of Steptoe & Johnson LLP. The argument and discussion will be moderated by Abbe D. Lowell of Chadbourne & Parke LLP."

A cocktail reception attended by the Ambassador of Greece to the U.S.A. Christos P. Panagopoulos, will follow the performance. It will be held at Sidney Harman Hall, 610 F Street NW in the nation's capital. Additional information about ticketing can be found at: ShakespeareTheatre.org.
