U.S. Embassy Assists Athenian Residents In Need
Community volunteers from the U.S. Embassy in Athens recently aided the Edra soup kitchen in the municipality of Ilion.
Embassy volunteers donated food and worked with the staff at Edra to cook and prepare 100 meals for Greeks in need, that included both families and individuals. One such donated item was olive oil handpicked from Embassy grounds by its volunteers. The American Embassy volunteers also stepped up and sorted apparel to be distributed to Greeks in need.
The U.S. Embassy in Athens' staff and family members have collaborated in a continuous program to assist local NGOs and Athenians experiencing hardships. Edra is one of the capital's NGOs that focuses on poverty and the effects of the nation's financial crisis on its population.
