NYC Mayor Praises Funded Universal Pre-K

  • Written by

Today, New York City's Mayor Bill de Blasio praised the state revenue funding of universal pre-kindergarten, as a significant triumph in history.

The $300 million yearly funded and 5-year deal for pre-k, is thought to be a great victory by the Mayor. The state's lawmakers are anticipated to vote on the matter, right before or after tonight's deadline at midnight. De Blasio touched on this subject prior to throwing the first Mets pitch this afternoon.

The Mayor claimed, "This is truly historic. Sometimes the word historic gets thrown around; I can tell you one thing, this really is a historic moment for the children and families of New York City. This is a huge step forward...It's going to have lasting benefits, it's going to have a huge multiplier effect. This is an investment, this is the kind of investment that will actually turn around our public schools...These are the kind of investments that will change education for a generation of New York City children. The whole school system will be different after we put these investments in place."
