Cyprus Deems Biden's Visit "Particularly Important"
The government of Cyprus has deemed U.S. Vice President Joe Biden's scheduled visit as "particularly important", since it represents America's vested interest in the island.
In a written document, Cypriot Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides stated: "The Government of Cyprus welcomes the decision by the Vice President of the United States of America, Mr. Joe Biden, to pay a visit to Cyprus on 21-23 May, following an invitation by the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades", as reported by Parikiaki.
The President further commented that the visit represents a relations advancement between the two nations, while the USA can greatly assist the EU in solving the Cypriot divide. As confirmed by the Cypriot government, planned discussions will focus on the Cyprus issue, financial means, energy activities, the island's regional role, Ukrainian activity, along with additional topics.
