Cypriot President Anastasiades Schedules Party Meetings Over Resolution Negotiations
Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades confirmed that he will conduct two meetings with the nation's political heads, to inform them on advancements concerning the ongoing Cyprus resolution discussions.
After a meeting with the Foreign Minister, the Greek-Cypriot Government Spokesman and the Deputy Government Spokesman, Anastasiades stated that discussions will occur before his September 2nd meeting with Turkish-Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglou.
The Cypriot President commented, "We will go on with the proposed methodology and to this end during the next week there will be a meeting with the negotiator's team and the leaders of the political parties to brief them on the work being done by the team and another one to listen to the reaction and the views of the political parties, certainly before the 2nd of September", as reported by Parikiaki.
Along with the two meetings, the National Council who presides over the Cyprus divide issue, is scheduled to hold a three-day meeting with the President, before he participates at the United Nations' General Assembly meetings in September.
Anastasiades added, "Hopefully, through these initiatives aiming to prepare the Greek Cypriot side, there will be a broader consensus among the political parties as regards the national issue".
