Cypriot Dance Troops Plan Guinness World Record Rankings
Nationwide Cypriot dance troops are aiming to break three different Guinness World Records for the lengthiest Greek traditional Kalamatianos dance, Syrtaki dances and Russia's Kalinka dance in Ayia Napa, as stated by its Mayor Yiannis Karousos.
Mayor Karousos described to Cyprus News Agency, "this significant dancing event will be held on Sunday, September 28, along Makarios Avenue at the city centre at 5pm".
Karousos added, "We call on all dance schools in Cyprus to join this effort and contact the municipality so that the necessary arrangements are made for this effort to succeed".
Explaining the dance competition, Ayia Napa's mayor commented, "it will be something beautiful and will help promote both Cyprus as a tourist destination, and Ayia Napa and the free Famagusta area".
