Thessaloniki Mayor Boutaris Plans Melbourne Visit
Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris and the Minister of Macedonia-Thrace George Orfanos have scheduled a trip to Melbourne next month, in honor of the 30th anniversary of their sister city alignment, in addition to interested member of the private sector, regarding trade partnerships.
In recent years, collaboration plans between Thessaloniki and Melbourne have increased. Ten Australian companies participated in the 2013 Thessaloniki International Trade Fair, however this year only three companies attended. During September's Fine Food Australia trade show, only half of the amount of Greek exporters showcased goods.
White Tower President Paul Mavroudis commented to Neos Kosmos,"Before, it was just the sister cities relationship, nothing happened, but now we're trying to do something about it. To bring people together, to do something different...I don't know what's going to happen but we're trying hard."
Mavroudis added, "They're going to have some seminars in the Greek consulate and of course they're going to be part of the Federation Square festival we have on 23 November".
