Brussels & Amsterdam Hold Pro Greece Rallies
Thousands of supporters came together in Brussels and Amsterdam to rally for Greece.
The demonstrators called for solidarity for the nation, concerning its financial turmoils, right before its scheduled European summit. Seasoned Greek MEP Manolis Glezos stated to the crowd in Amsterdam regarding the nation's creditors, to offer Greece "one more year" to settle its economic condition. Glezos added, "This crisis was caused by the financial sector, not by the Greek people."
The 92-year-old World War II hero further commented, "It's the financial sector that has to pay, not the Greek people." Advocates marched with signs stating, "Stop EU Blackmail" and "No More EU Austerity," while many flew Greek flags.
Belgian demonstration organizer Sebastien Franco claimed to national TV channel La Une that austerity measures are not the solution for Greece, "Austerity is not working, it reduces the income of poor people in the name of reimbursement to creditors... who continue to enrich themselves."
