In a post on the Truth Social platform, the US President shared an article by Breitbart News on the strategic value of the IMEC corridor linking India to Europe.
The article makes specific reference to the pivotal role that Greece and Cyprus will play as a “link” connecting these remote regions to the European Union through a “maritime corridor.”
According to reports, the issue of the IMEC corridor was discussed during a recent meeting between Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and his US counterpart Marco Rubio at the State Department.
Specifically, the article presents the views of the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Cyprus, who spoke with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle during a discussion organized by the Delphi Forum in cooperation with HALC in the US capital. In this context, it is argued that all the pieces for the creation of a maritime corridor are in place.
“It is the ‘3+1’ format, which includes Cyprus, Israel, Greece, and the US. Added to this is the strategic relationship between Greece and Israel, the strategic relationship between Greece and India, along with the excellent relations with Saudi Arabia and Egypt. So all the pieces of the puzzle are in place, and Greece and Cyprus can serve as the link that will unite this part of the world with the European Union through a corridor that provides political stability, economic openness because this is a free market – we are members of the European Union – and a very strong alliance with the United States.”
Finally, the Breitbart News article noted that the deputy foreign ministers of Greece and Cyprus expressed optimism about Donald Trump’s re-election, expressing confidence that he would promote economic cooperation and peace agreements in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East region.
