Cuba's First Greek Film Festival!
Cuba's first Greek Film Festival kicked off on April 4th, and lasts until April 13th, 2014.
It is being held at Havana's La Rampa movie theatre and includes films shot in the 1980s and 1990s, including musicals, comedies and dramas. Viewings are held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. each evening.
The event's inauguration film is "Rembetiko" by Costas Ferris. Greek Ambassador to Havana Paul Charalambous and Consul Aemilia Maniataki will be in attendance.
The Festival includes the well-known 1984 comedy "Callejeo y camuflaje", directed by Nicos Perakis. It centers around young soldiers serving military service for a year, from 1967-1968. 1978's comedy "Los holgazanes de valle fertil", regarding the bourgeoisie decline; the 1999 drama "Hierbabuena" directed by Costas Kapakas; and 1986's "La noche con Silena" by Dimitris Panayiotato, will also be featured.
