Cypriot President Addresses Hoteliers Association
Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades addressed the yearly Cyprus Hoteliers Association general meeting, and stated that the island's tourist sector is the leading economic factor concerning financial recovery.
He commented that this summer will experience an increase in travelers, and cited Russia and the UK. The President noted that 2013 was a great year for the tourism industry, and held 2,405,390 tourists, whom solidly alleviated the financial state of the nation.
Anastasiades discussed new airline activity, that has attracted eight major airplane companies that began routes to and from Cyprus. As reported by Parikiaki, the President stated, "These efforts in parallel with open skies policy will continue with the aim of increasing the tourist arrivals".
The Cypriot President added at the conference, "In the coming period, the government in cooperation with the tourist industry and all stakeholders will focus to definitely rectify the distortions in a bid to render Cyprus a real competitive tourist destination".
