Samaras & Anastasiades Agree On Cyprus Negotiations
Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades is wrapping up his Athenian trip and will return home this evening.
As stated by one of his spokesmen, the President will arrive "as a tired but less worried man", as the two nation's capitals are in agreement with the Cyprus negotiation procedure, "although this process, lately seems to have staggered", as reported by Parikiaki.
The Cypriot President stated that the current negotiations advancement "is not progress at all" to Greek leaders. He voiced his opinion that the European Union should participate in a solution for Cyprus.
It was determined that Greece will head the efforts, as Prime Minister Antonis Samaras has a stellar working relationship with European Commission President Jean Claude Junker. Junker is scheduled to arrive in Athens on August 4th.
Governmental Vice President and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos claimed, "Mr. Juncker will understand that Brussels should inevitably get involved in the Cyprus problem because if things go wrong, the consequences will effect the whole EU".
SYRIZA leader Alexis Tspiras also believes that the situation in Cyprus "should open up to the EU and the United States...Greece and Cyprus should also find new allies, as the political situation in our area is complex and ever-changing."
