The Cyprus Presidency has condemned Turkey’s newly planned illegal drilling within its EEZ in a press release published today via the Press and Information Office, where Turkey is described to be “turning into a pirate state in the Eastern Mediterranean.”
According to Energean Ol & Gas's planning, it is estimated that by the summer of this year, the environmental ministry will approve the environmental study of the project to begin, the first drilling to be completed by the end of the year, or the beginning of 2021.
Turkish president Erdogan reiterated his position that after the memorandum of understanding for maritime zones with the Tripoli government, Turkey is able to carry out seismic investigations and drilling east of Crete and south of Castellorizo.
