Α quarter of Greek firms seek move abroad

Capital controls imposed by the Greek government are taking a heavy toll on the country’s businesses, a survey showed Monday, with nearly a quarter saying they are seeking to move their headquarters abroad.

Charges against HRADF officials

Public Prosecutor for Corruption Eleni Raikou on Monday pressed criminal charges with potentially hefty sentences against senior management and three board members of the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) for their failure to obtain reasonably competitive rates in exchange for 28 public real estate assets.

40bn withdrawn from Greek banks since December

Louka Katseli, the head of Greece’s bank association, said some 40bn euros had been withdrawn from Greek banks since December by customers anxious over the safety of their deposits, seriously damaging the banks’ ability to function normally.

Second bill with prior actions tabled in Parliament

The prior actions that Greece has to pass into legislation on July 22 do not include the measures to discourage early retirement or taxation for farmers, which will be included in a later bill in the first week of August, according to government sources late on Monday.

ISIS suspect arrested in Mytilene

A 51year old Iranian, against whom an international arrest warrant had been issued for involvement in the extremist Islamist organization ISIS was arrested last Friday at Mytilene Airport.
