The Greek government has introduced landmark legislation that alows for mail-in voting for national elections, creating, also, three parliamentary seats dedicated exclusively to the global diaspora, a move designed to enfranchise millions of Greeks living abroad.

A new electoral law will be introduced by the government in the following few weeks. The new law is planned to bring more stable governments and will introduce for the first time the right of the Greek diaspora to vote.

A specific proposal for the vote of the Greeks abroad on the day of the national elections, in the embassies and consulates, is filed by the New Democracy.
