Police have detained 14 people for questioning after a group of assailants firebombed the Kypseli police station in central Athens, capping a weekend of tension marking the anniversary of a teenager's police killing.

A 33-year-old Belgian was arrested in the afternoon of Thursday in Papagou Athens, for possession of incendiary devices.

Athens is in lockdown as high-school students will be marching to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the killing of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos by police officer Epaminondas Korkoneas.
