The retreat of international law as a regulator of geopolitical balances was cited by the Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, in Parliament to underscore the need for the Armed Forces to be in a state of full readiness.
FM Dendias says Turkey should solve problems via dialogue based on International Law
Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias on Monday denounced neighboring Turkey for its actions in the Aegean and the eastern Mediterranean sea, while interviewed on StarTV on Monday evening.
He added that Turkey should "realize that the way to solve any problem is to discuss it on the basis of International Law, not with overflights or by violating sovereignty and sovereign rights."
'Hypocrisy' for Turkish defence ministry to cite international law, Athens says
The Greek foreign ministry, in a statement released on Thursday, said that it amounted to "hypocrisy" for Turkey to cite international law. Responding to statements made by the Turkish defence ministry, Athens also expressed concern that the "continued calls of the international community to that country to respect international law appear to be falling on deaf ears."
