Extension of territorial waters and Rafale acquisition bill in parliament
With the aim of shielding national interests, the government is forwarding two important bills to Parliament for a vote. The first concerns the law of extension of the coastal zone from 6 to 12 nautical miles in the Ionian Sea, from Corfu to Cape Tainaro in the Peloponnese.
Minister of National Defence meets with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs
On Wednesday, 14 October 2020, the Minister of National Defence Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs, Mr. Clarke Cooperand discussed defence cooperation issues, in the context of the strategic relationship and the updated Mutual Defence Cooperation Agreement (MDCA) between Greece and USA. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of the United States of America to Greece, Mr. Geoffrey Pyatt.

Terms of good neighbourliness do not currently exist in relations with Turkey, National Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos told public broadcaster ERT on Friday.
