More than 100 people have been detained for questioning at police headquarters for violating a four-day police order (November 15-18) banning rallies during Athens Polytechnic Day commemorations on Tuesday. 

The police plan came to fruition and yesterday's anniversary for the 46th year of the Polytechnic uprising was one of the quietest in the city center, in decades.

Violent episodes - marked by the serious injury of a woman - occurred on Friday evening on Alexandras Avenue and Exarchia, following the peaceful demonstration of the 44th anniversary of the Polytechnic uprising.
