George Prokopiou broke the barrier of 100 orders for shipbuilding

Featured George Prokopiou broke the barrier of 100 orders for shipbuilding

George Prokopiou is experiencing a crescendo of shipbuilding orders after signing a contract for four bulk carriers plus two with option on behalf of the cargo arm of his group Sea Traders.

The vessels to be built at Sainty Shipbuilding yards are of 63,500 dwt capacity and will be delivered in 2026 and 2027.

Each ship is estimated to cost $33 million including fitting the scrubbers and all the extras.

The group's shipbuilding program surpasses the 70-vessel mark including very large crude carriers-VLCCs, long-range suezmaxes, long-range product tankers and liquefied natural gas carriers along with a bulk carrier order book that now stands at 30 Pieces.

George Prokopiou's goal is to renew the group's fleet for the next 20 years in each arm, namely LNG, tankers and dry bulk.

The average age of the fleet managed by the group is currently around 12 years.

George Prokopiou states that he is currently not considering adding new ships and this is because the world situation is moving so quickly that no one knows what will happen.
