Attacks against bank branches and offices of the New Democracy party were perpetrated by unknown persons in the early hours of the morning, in Glyfada, Alimos, Kypseli, and Kesariani.

The Greek government has reached an agreement with the country’s banks on the management of the non-performing loans and the protection of lenders who had taken out housing loans to finance their main property.

The Greek government came in for a shock as the meeting with lenders on Monday didn't pan out as finance ministry sources expected with the main sticking point being the ability of Greek banks to deal with a huge amount of private debt in the red.
