NYC Greek Film Festival Opens October 18th

The New York City Greek Film Festival opens this year on Saturday, October 18th at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, NY and offers movies until Wednesday, October 22nd, before moving to Bow Tie Cinema in Manhasset, NY on October 20th until the 21st.

The Festival will continue at the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan on Thursday, October 23rd, at the NYIT Auditorium in New York City between Friday, October 24th until Sunday, October 26th, and concludes at Cinema Village Monday, October 27th through Thursday, October 30th.

As stated on its website, the New York City Greek Film Festival's mission: "Is to establish a presence for Greek films in New York City. The festival aspires to bring the best work of Greek filmmakers to New York audiences and to show the films in the most up to date screening facilities".

The Festival is holding special events, including "An Evening with Filmmaker Vassilis Loules", "Lela Karayanni: The Fragrance of a Heroine", "The Noose", and "The Vougiouklaki Phenomenon", among others.

The New York City Greek Film Festival states, "We hope that New Yorkers will avail themselves of the relatively rare opportunity to see Greek films by coming to the festival and discovering for themselves the work of fresh and exciting new talents...See you at the movies".
