There was Hollywood in the air this year at the 65th Thessaloniki International Film Festival with distinguished guestsamong which were Juliette Binoche, Ralph Fiennes, Matt Dillon.

The “Golden Alexander” of the Thessaloniki International Film Festival
The three famous actors were awarded an honorary “Golden Alexander”, the grand prize of the Festival.

Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes received the honorary Golden Alexander of the Festival at the screening of the masterpiece The English Patient (1996) by Anthony Minghella, which was their second collaboration and had given Juliette Binoche an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, as well as a nomination for an Oscar for Best Actor for Ralph Fiennes.

Matt Dillon was honored with a Golden Alexander for his entire contribution to cinema.

But what does the award they held in their hands depict? M art designed the Thessaloniki Film Festival awards for the 10th year.

The “Golden Alexander” depicts, on a plaque, the characteristic face of Alexander the Great in profile, in a design by the artist Eugenia I. Manolioudaki, while the name of the honored person is written above.

The Thessaloniki Film Festival continues with screenings and distinguished guests until Sunday.
