Greek singer Klavdia arrived back in Athens on Sunday to a jubilant homecoming following her impressive sixth-place finish at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, marking Greece’s best result in over a decade.
As Klavdia arrived at Athens International Airport, she was greeted by enthusiastic fans, friends, and family waving Greek flags, holding bouquets of flowers, and chanting her name.
The singer, visibly moved by the reception, thanked the crowd with a radiant smile, describing the result as “a great victory.”
“The sixth place for me is a huge win,” Klavdia said. “Honestly, it felt like a victory. I had dreamed of fifth place — we came so close. But the love and support I received from everyone means even more to me.”
She described her Eurovision experience as “incredible,” acknowledging that the process was stressful at times but ultimately deeply rewarding.
“Even if the result had been different, I think we would still be just as happy because the experience was unforgettable,” she stated.
Klavdia also expressed profound gratitude to the Greek state broadcaster ERT, her label Panik Records, and her team of dancers, saying, “I thank everyone truly from the bottom of my heart.”
In a poignant moment, Klavdia acknowledged the Pontic Greek Genocide Remembrance Day, observed annually on May 19.
“It’s a very heavy day tomorrow for all of us, for Pontic Greeks,” she said, noting the emotional significance of returning on the eve of such a day.
Klavdia’s performance has been widely celebrated as a major success for Greece at Eurovision, which has struggled to secure a top-10 finish in recent years.
Her return signifies not only a moment of national celebration but also the beginning of what many anticipate will be a promising and successful artistic career.
