Orphaned Bear Cub's Natural Habitat Return
A brown bear cub coined "Zoe" was located near the northwestern Greek village of Avghi last April roaming alone, according to reports.
Now little Zoe will be returned to a large enclosed forest. The Greek NGO Arcturos, whose mission is to improve sustainability and biodiversity in rural regions, has organized the cub's new habitat.
Arcturos member Panos Stefanou stated to ANA-MPA, "Zoe that already weighs more than 10 kg avoids the caretakers, is very happy and plays all the time with the pool water and with her stuffed toy bear".
After her transfer, Zoe will not interact with anymore human beings. Stefano added that at 2014's end, "a lair will be constructed in the forest for Zoe to hibernate and when she wakes up in spring she will be free in the natural environment".
