Army Cadet Steals Pistol
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A third year cadet at the Hellenic Army military academy has admitted the theft of a .45 pistol from the school's armory.
The cadet is facing serious charges from the prosecutor of the Athens court martial and expulsion from the school.
The cadet for reasons yet undisclosed took the pistol, something that became apparent two weeks ago during an inventory check at the armory.
The incident precipitated an inquest across the whole academy that led military authorities to possible suspects within 24 hours.
The cadet admitted the theft and that he had taken the weapon to his home at Trikala.
His family was informed, and the following day his brother brought it back to the academy.
The military prosecutor is searching in all directions for the motives behind the theft.
