Venizelos: We are not looking for a government role
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
PASOK is fighting a multi-sided battle in a serious, direct and responsible way, its leader Evangelos Venizelos on Monday told Vima FM and noted that the party is trying to assume a consensus role in the name of the national interest.
He said that in the European parliament elections, New Democracy came in second and SYRIZA was the leading party adding that it was PASOK's rate that kept the government still stable and the negotiation going. He noted that if opinion polls are confirmed and SYRIZA is the leading party, then “a vote for PASOK is the counterbalance and a useful vote.”
He also described Potami party as the "new Democratic Left (DIMAR)", a promiscuous formation that has not been tested.
“We are not tied to any government, we are not looking for a role in a government, we are trying to help with the conclusion of an effort for which we have made great sacrifices and which should not get wasted with amateurism, irresponsibility, frivolities and contradictions," he said. He also said it was up to the people to decide who will be trusted with the negotiation and the country’s fate.
