Moskovisi: "I forbid even the contemplation of a Grexit plan"
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
"There is no Plan B, the European Commission's objective is for Greece to stay in the euro area," said Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, Pierre Moskovisi, speaking on France 2 radio station.
As he said, "and I even forbade considering such a plan, there is no Plan B. In general, whenever there is a Plan B, it means that we do not believe in Plan A, anymore,” said the European Commissioner.
"We had an initial agreement with Greece, on Friday, moving in the right direction," which he described as ambitious but realistic.
At the same time, however, he recalled that Greece will have to honor its commitments and to propose solutions and reforms that are sustainable.
As for France, Moskovisi said that the budget deficit should be reduced, and did not hesitate to talk even for sanctions against Paris if it does not make the necessary moves.
He also noted that the European Commission will decide today whether the actions of the French government for the compliance of its fiscal program will be fruitful.
"I hope to get a good deal. A good deal is always better than bad penalties," said the former finance minister of France. "But sanctions may be necessary if there is no agreement," he warned.
He said the reforms are in the right direction but Paris must do more.
