Migrant drama off Rhodes
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The bodies of a man, a woman and a child were recovered on Monday during a rescue operation at the sea region of Zefyros on Rhodes island after the sailing boat they were on board run aground.
The boat was smashed on the rocks. The migrants fell into the water and several vessels attempted their location and rescue. Many clung to debris as they didn't know how to swim.
The Coast Guard said that 83 persons were rescued so far, however the exact number of the migrants that were on board the sailing boat can't be specified yet.
