Police Focusing on Neo Iraklio Double Killing

Greek police (ELAS) are on emergency footing after the killing of two, and serious injury of one more, Golden Dawn members in front of the party's offices in Neo Iraklio, Athens.

Authorities are continuing inquiries at full blast as there are fears that ELAS could come face to face with a new round of bloodletting that could become a veritable time bomb under an already very tense social situation.

Already, since Friday night, police sources expressed very reservedly that the anti-terrorist squad is "looking into" organizations on the far left fringe, while there are also scenarios of a re-emergence "Sect of Revolutionaries" urban guerrilla group, or even the emergence of a new terrorist group.

Although the scenario of an underworld hits, seems distant at this time, police are not abandoning any hypothesis.

At this time, the main effort of the anti-terrorist squad is to assemble all the evidence, as information is still very obscure and lead to erroneous leads.

Police are scrutinizing the videos from store security cameras in the vicinity. At least one newspaper printed a frame from a security camera depicting one of the gunmen at the time of the shooting. However, the footage from the security cameras of the Golden Dawn offices is already in the hands of police.

The anti terrorist squad believe that the footage will show exactly how the killing took place and also provide biometrics to compare against suspects belonging to armed groups.

The other path being followed is the exhaustive examination of all eye witnesses, with the testimony of the fourth member of the group that managed to avoid being shot by hiding in the party office's door.

This individual is still not in a psychological state to testify, but police believe concrete evidence will emerge from his testimony.

So far, more than thirty eyewitnesses have been interrogated.

Finally, the motorcycle that was used in the murders has been found and is expected to yield some data. The motorcycle was found on Saturday by police officers, in Nea Kifisia, two kilometers from the crime scene.

However, information is foggy as police also have in their hands two motorcycles, one found near the crime scene, on Afxentiou Street and another very much farther at Markopoulo.

What is puzzling authorities is that the motorcycle has not been reported stolen, and the owner has not given any signs of life in recent days.

What has become clear is that the attack that left Golden Dawn members, Giorgos Fountoulis and Manolis Kapelonis, and a third young man seriously wounded, took 10 seconds to effect.

Latest information has it that the two men approached the Golden Dawn offices and got off with one firing bursts. The killer, is, now, said to have worn a cap, and not a motorcycle helmet as was previously relayed, while the second followed a few meters behind.

After the victims fell, they were given coup de grace shots, and the perpetrators got on the motorcycle and fled the scene.

From the crime scene of the double homicide, up to now, twelve (12) 9mm cells have been collected and sent to the Forensic Laboratories for ballistic examination
