Berlin: No Connection Between Violence and Austerity Measures

The exacerbation of political violence in Greece, is not linked to the memorandum being applied to the country, maintains Berlin, going against those that say the rise of extremism is due to the repercussions of applying harsh austerity programs.
According to Greek media, spokesperson for German chancellor Angela Merkel, Steffen Seibert, stated that the German government sees no relation between political assassinations in Greece with the memorandums Greece has signed with creditors dictating harsh policies, contrary to reports by German press from Athens.
Mr Seibert also said that the condemnation of violence and political killings from any quarters was self-evident.
