Sakellaridis: Government awaits proposals from the other side - no thought of elections

During the press briefing government spokesman Gabriel Sakellaridis argued that negotiations continued at the political level.

Indeed, he said the Greek government awaits a proposal from lenders in order to continue negotiating. Commenting on whether Tsipras called Juncker, Mr. Sakellaridis said the Prime Minister never called Juncker, but that nevertheless "there are contacts at a lower level between associates of the Greek Prime Minister and Mr Juncker.” The government spokesman also clarified that "it has not even crossed the mind of the government to possibly appeal to the polls"

Gabriel Sakellaridis also pointed out that the Greek delegation is in Brussels with the participation of Nikos Pappas and Euclidis Tsakalotos to seek convergence for an agreement between the two parties. Answering the next question for the mission of this delegation, the government spokesman said thatit "is mandated so as to converge between government and institutions. The proposal from the government is a basis for discussion. "

Concerning the text of the Greek proposal, Mr. Sakellaridis said that this does not reflect the position of the government but the settling of negotiations under the Brussels Grou[, adding that institutions submitted a five page proposal that can not be accepted. "We should not pretend that there have been no discussions and proposals have not been submitted," he said.

Asked if the aim is to extend the existing program, Mr. Sakellaridis said that "it alone does not meet the needs of the Greek economy."

Asked whether to put party discipline issue when the agreement will come to a vote in the House, Mr. Sakellaridis said that "we have it in our minds."
