Conflagration next to Athens center

And while this morning fire fighters struggle with flames in Laconia, two flaming fronts have erupted in Attica, on Mt. Hymettus and Koropi.
The front at Kareas on Hymettus is the larger of the two. The fire started at a point between Byron Cemetery and Katehaki Avenue and now the flames have travelled on to Hymettus. The fire broke out near a residential area, however, so far homes are not at risk as the fire is directed towards the mountain.
The fire within minutes grew to great dimensions, as strong winds blowing in Attica. Indeed, half of Attica is covered with smoke.
Forty firefighters with 15 vehicles and two Canadair aircraft and a helicopter have rushed to the scene.
