Reforms bill passes
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The omnibus bill on the second set of prior actions Greece needs to fulfil for its bailout loan passed in Parliament early on Friday morning with the votes of the coalition government, while the rest of the parties voted against it.
The bill passed with 153 votes, on the strength of SYRIZA and its Independent Greeks (ANEL) coalition partner. Main opposition New Democracy (ND), Golden Dawn, the Democratic Coalition, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Union of Centrists, totalling 117 votes, voted against. Potami, which holds 9 votes in Parliament, voted "present".
ND called for a roll-call vote on nine articles; all of them eventually passed, as did the amendments, which were incorporated in the bill.
