Greek-Israeli Jubilee Friendship Stamps presented

On Tuesday (8 March 2016) the joint commemorative Israel-Greece friendship stamps "25 Years of Diplomatic Relations Israel-Greece" were presented at a festive event organized by Israeli Embassy in Greece and the Hellenic Postal Authority (ELTA) at the old Hellenic Parliament in Athens.

The event was attended by many politicians, diplomats, officials and people of the arts.
The Ambassador of Israel to Greece, Ms. Irit Ben-Abba, the President and Managing Director of ELTA, Mr. Kostis Melachrinos and Mr. Moses Konstantinis, President of the Central Board of Greek Jewish Communities (KIS) and Special Advisor to the Hellenic Postal Authority, launched the event with greetings. This was followed by addresses of distinguished Greek and Israeli personalities who have special ties with Israel and Greece including: the Chairman of the Greek-Israeli Friendship Committee of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Dimitris Sevastakis, Mr. Anastasios Mitsialis, former Secretary General of the Greek MFA and former Ambassador of Greece to Israel, Mr. Ram Aviram, a businessman and former Ambassador of Israel to Greece, the Greek academic and writer, Ms. Lena Divani, Mrs. Matilda Beraha, an architect and Technion graduate, Ms. Garyfallia Micha, a historian and researcher at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem and Mr. Nikos Agouros, Managing Editor of Huffington Post Greece.
"The Marty Eisenstein Ensemble" with musicians Marty Eisenstein (guitar), Yiannis Zarias (violin) and Ioanna Riga (santuri) moved the audience performing traditional Greek, Israeli and Jewish melodies and contributed greatly to the festive atmosphere.
On Wednesday, 27 January 2016, Israel and Greece held a government to government meeting in Jerusalem, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. The meeting marked the 25th anniversary of the upgrading of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Among the objectives of the meeting: to continue strengthening bilateral relations in foreign affairs, economic cooperation, innovation, energy, the environment, tourism, transportation, maritime relations, the maintenance of public order, civil defense and the war on terrorism.
