Mardas: Refugees able to invest could enjoy prιvileges

Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister said that refugees able to invest at least 250,000 euros could enjoy privileged treatment. Speaking on Skai TV, Dimitris Mardas, revealed that the government is mulling over a plan to examine the economic profile of the 50,000 migrants and refugees currently stranded in Greece.

He said that he will propose a scheme whereby the Greek authorities identify newcomers who have deposits in excess of 250,000 euros at foreign banks and would consider investing in Greece in exchange for “preferential treatment in the purchase of a house or as to their right to remain in the country.”
Mardas said that the legislation already exists that would allow such as a scheme.
