Greek airports see 16.9% increase in travel during Q1

The total number of flights at Greek airports from January until March reached 60,542 (of which 37,646 were domestic flights and 22,896 were international flights) showing an increase of 8.4 percent (+10.8 percent on domestic flights and +4.7 percent on international flights) compared to the same period last year when 55,851 flights took place.

During March, 2.14 million passengers passed through Greek airports, recording an increase of 19.75 percent. More specifically, domestic passengers were up by 25.8 percent and international passengers increased by 13.5 percent.

The airports of Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Chania and Rhodes received the most passengers in March, according to the Civil Aviation Authority. Last month, according to the data, Athens’ airport welcomed 1,284,377 passengers, Thessaloniki’s passenger traffic amounted to 405,086 and 95,067 passengers passed through Heraklion’s airport. Chania’s passenger traffic amounted to 87,120 passengers and Rhodes welcomed 64,141 passengers.
