Onbibus bill raises tensions in Parliament
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
The omnibus bill on the prior actions for the conclusion of the first programme review was tabled in the Parliament late on Wednesday, but has raised tempers in Parliament, where lawmakers of all parties are in an uproar.
The debate on the relevant committees of the parliament started on Thursday and the debate in the parliament plenary will start on Saturday. The bill is expected to be voted on Sunday.
So far a great storm has been brewing in parliament as lawmakers are being called to vote on 7,500 pages of laws in a few hours. Parliamentarians are currently on the floor of the House yelling and gesticulating with the Chair unable to make peace.
The bill provides for the activation of the contingent mechanism in case of deviations from the primary surplus targets.
