Parliamentary committee approves electoral law bill in principle

A draft bill that proposes changes to the electoral law, including the abolition of the 50-seat bonus granted to the first party was approved in principle and by majority in the parliament’s Civil Service, Public Order and Justice Committee on Tuesday.
SYRIZA, ANEL and the Centrists' Union voted in favour, while New Democracy, the Democratic Coalition and Potami voted against it. The Communist Party voted “present”, while Golden Dawn said it will present its position in the plenary.
