Minister Kountoura highlights Pella tourism potential

“Our goal is to strengthen the region and all surrounding destinations, bringing forth their individual cultural and tourist wealth as well as separate categories of tourism offerings with regard to thematic, religious and spa tourism,” Minister Kountoura said during her recent two-day visit to Pella.

Ms Kountoura joined Pella native Alternate Industry Minister Theodora Tzakri in a tour of the region which included stops at the Archaeological Museum of Pella, the Edessa Museum of Water and the Edessa Waterfalls as well as local monasteries and the Pozar Thermal Baths.

Ms Kountoura also met with local government authorities and tourism professionals to discuss issues affecting the sector and ways to extend the tourism season.

The minister said that alternative forms of tourism will lead to a diversification which can prove to be beneficial for both the local community and the wider national economy.
