Donkeys carrying tourists to Lindos, on Rhodes, fell victim to tax audits, and fines were imposed on their owners for violation of the law.
According to data gathered by the "Rhodian" at the end of last month, two tax inspectors went to Lindos and conducted investigations at the Lindos donkey owners association "Kleovoulos".
The association is known to be in possession of the donkeys that are used by tourists to ascend to the Lindos acropolis.
The tax inspectors who went that day for physical verification according to information, saw that receipts were not being issued for the value of 5 five euro tickets sold as well as that there had been beginning registration of business activity with tax authorities.
indeed they confirmed the infringement and imposed a fine totalling 4,250 euros.
The plight of state proceeds is so dire that even a loss of arrroximately 5 euros in VAT has the financial crime unit on the chase.
