1st Thessaloniki Summit to discuss regional policy, growth on Oct. 12-14

Thessaloniki is hosting a major summit on October 12-14, to discuss the main issues that will form the future of the social and economic life in northern Greece and Southeast Europe in general.

The Summit, under the auspices of President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, will gather a group of more than 60 regional and international prominent experts and policy makers from all around the world who will deliberate on various aspects of regional policy and its link to economic growth and review country experiences.
Among the issues discussed will be geopolitical developments, managing refugee flows, the extroversion of the Greek economy, attracting investment and the outlook for growth in strategic sectors such as energy, tourism and culture.
Keynote speakers include Declan Costello, the European Commission’s mission chief in Greece, Margaritis Schinas, Chief European Commission Spokesman, Michael B. Christides, Ambassador and Secretary General of the Permanent International Secretariat (PERMIS) of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), Ihsan Uğur Delikanli, President of the Black Sea Trade & Development Bank, Alkis Drakinos, Deputy Head for Greece at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Ioannis Kaltsas, Head of Division, Greece & Cyprus Operations at the European Investment Bank.
